Parent Partnership

Our pre-school prides itself on being an inclusive setting. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved with their children’s progress. We endeavour to keep our parents updated on their child's progress by:

- Regular communication with your child’s key person.

- Informal chats and handovers at the gate at drop offs and pick-ups.

- Regular fortnightly emails from your child's key person sharing progress and ideas for home learning activities.

- Through our Facebook Page: Stepping Stones Pre-school Leverington which posts regular updates, activities and fundraising events to keep you informed and involved.

- Regular newsletters which highlights key events, activities and links to our planning and curriculum.

- Regular stay and play sessions where our families can come into pre-school and spend a session playing with their child and looking at their work.

- Parent meetings every term to discuss progress, targets and share profiles.

Home Visits
As part of our partnership with parents we offer a home visit just before your child is due to start. This is an informal pop in by two members of staff, one of which will be your key person. This is an opportunity for the key person to begin building a relationship with your child and for you to ask all those little questions that keep popping up. The visit lasts about 20-30 minutes and is booked during school opening times. Both staff and past parents have found this a valuable experience as it enables your child to begin their transition into pre-school feeling safe and secure with their key person.

Library

We offer a library service at pre-school where children can choose a library book per week to take home and share their families. This a free service we offer to promote a love for sharing stories and reading. Research shows how important sharing books is to children's overall development.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” – Stephen King

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” – Albert Einstein

“Reading is the gateway for children that makes all other learning possible.” – Barack Obama

Home Learning Packs and Story Sacks

At Stepping Stones your child will bring home various Story Sacks linked to well loved and familiar stories to share with you at home. They will also have opportunities to bring home Learning Packs, this may be based on an activity linked to your child's individual target that they are working on with their key person. For example, scissor skills, physical games or fine motor control skills.

Paddington's Adventures

At Stepping Stones the children have the opportunity to take Paddington Bear home for the weekend. Paddington Bear loves to have adventures with everyone at pre-school. Your adventure could be a picnic at your house, playing the garden or a visit somewhere. We ask that you let us know about Paddington's adventures by emailing us photos. We then add them to our Paddington scrap book here at pre-school. The children love to share their experiences at home with the staff and their peers and we certainly love to hear all about your home experiences with your family.
